The Overview: Beware of STDs (sexually transmitted demons)! This modern classic written and directed by David Robert Mitchell is an essential for horror fans. This supernatural film keeps you on edge and is a great form of birth control! Following Jay, a teenager at the beginning of a new relationship, as she deals with her new reality of being stalked by a being brought forth by a sexual encounter.
The Good: The amazing score keeps this thriller pumping alongside the eerie suburbs and not so peaceful water sides. Besides the supernatural, it’s also a realistic depiction of the true horrors of teen dating: the awkwardness. As Maika Monroe’s breakout role, she is fantastic at manifesting her character Jay’s dread of the unstoppable and the unknown. The supporting cast, though limited in dialogue, communicates with plenty of body language.
The Bad: It Follows doesn’t have a lot not to like. Pacing is solid, actors play their role as intended, plot is unique, and sound is great.
The Bloody: Besides a few graphic and shocking scenes, this film is by no means a slasher. The means of this horror are through supernatural and psychological terror. This thriller is an easy and seat gripping watch for fans who prefer more of a thrill rather than guts and gore.
